C-sections and Baths — Ask the Experts

Q: When is it OK to take a bath post-C-section?

You are best to wait up to seven days so the incisions heal and to minimise infection risk. You can have a quick and light shower within a day of the surgery, however, be careful not to scrub the incisions and simply let the water run over them. If your tummy is bandaged, do consult your doctor and enjoy spending this precious time when you need to take it a little slower, while learning about your baby.
